This may sound ridiculous but women need to start their anti aging skin care habits as soon as they hit their 20s. This does not mean however that a 20-something woman needs to rush to a dermatologist to get botox injections, face lift and other treatments targeted to aging women. The point is- you need to take care of your skin as early as possible to prevent premature aging. Prevention is better than cure, correct? Here are some beauty tips for women in their 20s to preserve their youth:

1.) Avoid excessive sun exposure

While sunshine gives you a healthy dose of vitamin D it doesn’t mean that you need to get out there and soak up the sun like there’s no tomorrow. Ask any woman who seems ageless about their beauty secret and she will tell you that she’s been avoiding the sun all these years. Overexposure to the sun causes skin damage and premature aging. Over time, your skin may become thick, dry, wrinkled and leathery. The bad effects of Mr. Sun on you will manifest gradually. Did you know that about ninety percent of the visible signs of aging are caused by the sun? If you can’t avoid sun exposure, make sure you slather on a good amount of sunscreen with high SPF.

2.) Be gentle on your eyes when applying makeup

Eyelid tugging when you apply eyeliner will stretch the skin tissues eyes. You may not know this but pulling on the corners of the eyes promotes wrinkles and fine lines under the eyes. So many women do this because it’s so much easier to put on eyeliner. You need to change your ways before it’s too late. To make the application easier, use a cream or gel eyeliner instead of pencil. Some women on the other hand are more comfortable using felt tip or brush liquid liner. Always apply your eye makeup with a steady hand to prevent tugging. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to put on a gentle eye cream right before you apply your undereye concealer to make sure that area stays moisturized.

3.) Ditch your bad habits

There is nothing to argue about- excessive drinking and smoking do not provide any health benefits. Multiple studies show that alcohol can cause symptoms related to accelerating the aging process. Occasional consumption is fine but the problem starts when a woman drinks alcohol like water. This can cause wrinkles, dry skin because of dehydration, redness and loss of elasticity and collagen. Smoking can also speed up the aging process of your skin. You may not see the effects now but you definitely will ten years from now. So, the next time you light up a cigarette, think of how old you are going to look in your 30s!
